Explaining a few things!

Greetings true believers!
So, there may be some confusion as to what all of the different endings mean. We ask that you also take into account a quote from another time traveler and look at the endings in context to that.

The quote is: “People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually – from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint- it’s more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly… timey-wimey… stuff.” The Tenth Doctor, Doctor Who, “Blink”

Now, yes, we’ve laid in quite a few references to Doctor Who throughout the span of Flames of Eternity. Take the content of the extra-endings and look at them again, these are snippets of things to come, or things that have happened, or are happening.

It is not something that needs to be dissected and gone over with a fine toothed comb, we are portraying a story, something that needs to be enjoyed and simply played.

As always, bug reports should be e-mailed to: ruby.dragoon@gmail.com, Include a screen shot, a save state, a brief description of the issue, and what emulator you were using at the time.

We will put together the next release of the CTM package just in time for Christmas, so stay tuned.

Quick update and a thank you and a reminder!

Greetings True Believers!

Just a quick update, I know we haven’t updated the FoE CTM package in a while, that will be done in a few days.

We also wanted to say Thank You to “Doubting Thomas”, as quoted below is his comment to a previous post of ours:
”Giro/Ruby and the rest of the team:
I've been following Chrono fan-sequels since Resurrection. I observed the rise and fall of Crimson Echoes; their beta was NOTHING compared to your remastered version... trust me, don't weep that it wasn't spread very far. The only true pity is that Giro wasn't on the original team, because his balls outweigh the collective bodymass of everyone involved in that fiasco. Seriously... serving our country and getting shot at while finishing coding on a netbook, simultaneously thumbing nose at Square for not doing something like this sooner VS knuckling under and bending over a barrel for Square's team of mighty lawyers and their illegitimate (look it up kiddies, a simple google search will shed light on the subject) and ill advised C&D like they've always enjoyed being on the forcibly receiving end of a sex crime. No contest.
But this is a better game in many ways than Chrono Cross was. Cross had enough Chrono-quality content to fill perhaps two or three of yours or Trigger's chapters. I wouldn't hesitate to call this a trilogy. If they ever manage to make Break, then it would be a quartet.
Good job and keep going. I'll eagerly devour each morsel you all churn out, like Zeality over said previously mentioned barrel.
Wait, what?
Thanks,
Doubting Thomas

You have made us laugh and also hit home a key point, we make this game for the fans and the fans alone. (This is the reason why we refuse PayPal donations and not ‘monetize’ the Blog and put ad’s up)

Lastly, just a reminder, DO NOT POST BUG REPORTS ON THE BLOG! Send a save state, a screen shot, and a description of the problem/issue in an e-mail to ruby.dragoon@gmail.com Bug reports posted in comments GET DELETED.

CT: Flames of Eternity RC6 is HERE!!

Greetings True Believers!
I hope you’ve manned your TARDIS consoles, and steered your DeLorean’s just fine, and landed your Epoch’s where you can reach then again.

As we’re proud to give you the RC6 release of Chrono Trigger: Flames of Eternity. You can grab it here!

This is release is due to the awesome efforts of Dark_Schneider and D.Adler. Minor tweaks and changes are rather numerous this time around, but we are working towards a true professional grade product now.

Fixes for RC6 include:

  • Coliseum no longer pink screens on Medium difficulty, it should be working all the way through
  • Spell naming scheme is fixed to what it was in the earlier FoE Beta's. No more '1' and '2' for spells.
  • End credits no longer display "UNUSED"
  • About 20+ Grammatical errors fixed

An idea we’ve been throwing around is changing the in-game font to something else. I’d like comments on this, we’ll be testing internally some builds with different fonts in the coming weeks.

Informational Updates!

Greetings true believers!

We’ve recently taken on another team member who goes by D. Adler, he’s our ‘exterminator’, as he has brought to our attention a lot of bugs that still remained within the RC5 release of Flames of Eternity (which was awesome).

Due to information gleamed by him, we have started to patch up a lot of the little bugs here and there and are currently in the testing phases for RC6.

A spoiler-free walkthrough is in the works as well thanks to Ryushin!

“Like a boss!”

Stay tuned, as RC6 will be released as soon as testing ( for science ) is completed!

Testing of RC5!

Greetings true believers!

This post is an informational update. Internal testing of RC5 is still underway. There was a slight delay with it and its nothing that will cause the release to be held back further. We now have a 4th ending added into the game. This ending further ties into Chrono Cross, and another ‘what happened to them’ portion that we hint at in the other endings.

It all ties together. Smile

Stay tuned as the release will be after all testing it completed!

The road to completion! -Informational update-

Greetings true believers!

RC4 brought with it a few minor tweaks under the hood of Chrono Trigger: Flames of Eternity, and you should have noticed quite a bit more polish placed upon the game.

We’re in the midst of working on testing of RC5 for Flames of Eternity.
The biggest change in the coming version is an overhaul of the Coliseum feature in the 2305 Era.

Why you may ask? To put it rather bluntly, the Coliseum featured in the previous versions of FoE have been the remains of the CE product that FoE once was, which means it was riddled with bugs and the area was broken, you would have noticed random crashes and an unforgiving difficulty with it.

We’ve changed over the Coliseum coding to the version used in the still unreleased Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes Fan Mix (This project has NOTHING to do with the original Crimson Development team). So, when released, you will notice on top of the remixes (taken from the Fan Mix) but the Coliseum as well will be from the Fan Mix.  (As portions of FoE will be used in the Fan Mix, yep, Glenn!)

Consider it a preview of sorts.

Stay tuned for further updates!

Informational post on testing procedures!

While testing is underway on RC4, I felt like we would inform you on our testing procedures and devices!

We have several people playing the game on different platforms, these include:
-PSP Slim with Custom Firmware
-PC using CTM (the other half of the FoE Project, it hasn’t been updated in a while, but the game must run with this.)
-Pandora Handheld console (THE Device for Retro gaming enthusiasts!)

Now, using these three devices, we’re able to cover every avenue for failure, and why is that?

The PSP Slim and the Pandora both run a version of SNES9x, which is considered the universal SNES Emulator, its on everything.

The PC tester has it a little bit more lucky, using CTM, it runs with ZSNES, which can run almost any SNES Rom in existence blazingly fast! As well as having the cool MP3 quality sound track accompanying the game.

So there you have it!

Slight Tweak

Greetings.

Giro has come through with a slight tweak to the RC1 build of FoE, this is only a minor change with the hidden boss in the Dinopolis tower, as you should be able to do more than single digits worth of damage to it. Giro mentions that this boss will also drop Crono’s most powerful sword upon defeating it, so it gives you good motivation to go ahead and try and find this boss. Open-mouthed smile

This is the link to that build.

A side note, there is another project in the works, but by a fellow CT modding team.

“For those out there who are CE purists, there is a version in the works entitled: Crimson Echoes Fan Mix, this version is going to feature fully remixed music, about twice as many side quests, and a lot more polish, to the point that it can blind you if left in direct sunlight. There are no download links available to this project, as this is closed development, but when it will be available, we will point you in the direction of where to find it”

Testing!!

Greetings true believers!

Great news comes this day. I have started the testing phase of the next release. When that is completed with no errors, I’ll drop the RC build upon the world. (RC – means Retail Consideration; I am using this as a developmental term only, I have never and WILL NEVER attempt to gain profit from this project. I reject donations for what I am doing on this, thus you’ve never seen ads on this blog, nor a link to a paypal donation)

Will this mean that Chrono Trigger Flames of Eternity nears completion?
The answer to that question is partly. As this is a homebrew project and not a professional grade production, there will always be a few things that slip through the cracks that will need to be tweaked. So, it will never truly be done, but it will be pretty completed and feel like an awesome fun game! Open-mouthed smile

Stay tuned, as testing is underway RIGHT NOW!!

Still chugging along!

Greetings true believers!

Just a heads up, work is under way on the next update to Chrono Trigger: Flames of Eternity.

In the next update, we have squashed yet another show stopping bug left over from the CE Baseline, and we’re also retooling Glenn’s speech to reflect his original accent from Chrono Trigger.

A small example:
”Glenn: Attention! To earn membership
thou must first scour the land.
Go to all corners of Zenan and beyond
spreading courage, valor and
compassion. Return and spread the
gospel of thine deeds!
Return with honor worthy of Guardia!”

As you can see from the small example above, we have taken the time to fine tune his lines this time around. Open-mouthed smile

Stay tuned for the release and further news!

A tad more tweaking

Greetings.
I have been tweaking the build over the course of today.
So, that means a few changes, some would consider them not so major.
Lucca's house, 2nd Floor, in one of the rooms is the gate to the 'ending selector'.
Some of these are not complete, and they were left over from the original CE build.
One of them has been removed due to being related to the original CE team (this should make sense as we are not the Compendium or Kajar Labs nor affiliated with either.)
Anyway...
This is the link to the build.

Major Updates!

Alrighty!

This is the first in a series of major updates to FoE. This build is based off of the leaked 98% baseline.
In this version you will find:

1) Playable Glenn

2) The New techs

3) Cleaner dialogue

4) No sickening Afterschool special love subplots

5) No Emo Crono

In the next release, we will port the music remixes back over.
This is the link to the newest build.

~Giro

P.S. >> If you need instructions on how to update your CTM collection with this build, just drop me an e-mail @: ruby.dragoon@gmail.com. I try to answer all e-mailed questions personally and in a timely manner.

EDIT 1: A few issues were brought to my attention concerning this build, these were errors left in the 98% baseline that we moved over to. I have since forth fixed this issue with Johnny not being in the Mall where he needs to be. The fix has been pushed to the link above, so, game on! :D

EDIT 2: I highly recommend starting a new game + if you're using your save from a previous build. Some data has been moved around a bit since we moved to the new baseline and things are a tad buggy if you're continuing from your previous spot using the build released on the 2nd of January. As always BUGS NEED TO BE E-MAILED TO ME AND NOT POSTED ON THE BLOG IN COMMENTS!

Still working

Work is still underway on porting over the changes.
This is also to inform you that we have squashed a game breaking bug left over in the CE build that would prevent you from finishing the game if you failed the Frog hunting side quest.

We’re still trudging along, and just a side note, the decision was made to drop the Swedish accent for Agent 86, though the number will remain.

We’re almost done with it! Bear with us!

Now, if we rush this, it won’t be polished at all.

Recent Developments and Work under way

Greetings.

I have some good-ish news. As someone went and leaked the Crimson Echoes 98% build onto reddit recently.

What does this mean for FoE?
Well, it means I am going to retool and change the baseline build of FoE to that one. Which means that the next release will be close to the finished product. I am still working on getting all of the changes ported over (I’ve accumulated a lot of documentation that I need to sort through and then apply to this new baseline build)

Be aware, I am working the issue, but the next release will include the new techs I’ve been promising. There will also be a few noticeable cosmetic changes as well.

Thanks for staying on board with us!
