First of all, awesome! Second, not sure if this is the best place to post about bugs/bad tiles, but there's 2 bad tiles that have bothered me since the beginning that are still present. One is the treasure chest in the Auction House, you can get stuck in it if you simply move the character all up on it. The other is the left side of the right bench at the fair map, all the way in the back, where the Telepad used to be. You can briefly walk through it basically, it takes a good eye.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, thanks for the hard work to make this version possible.
So is there going to be an rc8 or is this it. Thanks for your hard work can't wait to play.
ReplyDeleteThere's going to be an RC8 when the 2305 New Dorino sidequest is complete.
ReplyDeleteI could hook you guys up with some new songs if you'd like for RC8, I hack FF6's music and can cross it on over to CT, I've done some Cross music and Radical Dreamers. At first I was thinking of making a patch for a new soundtrack for CT, but if you guys are interested...
ReplyDeleteGi Nattak, can you contact us @ enhasaorders@gmail.com please! :D

ReplyDeleteOh thank god, that has bugged me to no end since I first played Crimson Echoes.
One thing that i wanted to ask for a very long time: Can i use a save file from the an older version to continue playing?
ReplyDeleteI know exactly that i can but will it become unstable and crash or bugged out or something?
Btw you can call me Joe :)
Sure. Just rename your Chrono Trigger save file to FoE14-09-11(RC7c).srm
ReplyDeleteThank you Drew. (^_^)/
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI pop in from time to time to see how this project is progressing, and it is nice to see that there is still work being done on it. A few years back I was involved with a similar restoration project which I worked on with kando, I believe you spoke to him from time to time. However, I have not heard from him for a few years now, I assume that he, just as I did, found our interest waning as other responsibilities took priority.
Have you heard from him at all recently? I ask because at this point our project is dead, but there was some work (my own contributions) that I would be willing to be added into your project. Namely an expanded 2305 mall, as well as expanded side quests:
Glenn: I added a small dungeon that involves following Samuel as he ventures further into Truce Valley for his training, leading up to a boss fight.
Ayla: I simply added an additional boss fight in the cave where you fought the Nizbel boss whom you fight on the way to speak to the Reptite leader.
Lucca: A transition after talking to the boy where you enter Fiona's forest, but it is a separate map which you cannot leave until you save the boy (additional areas opened so the party may venture further in to find him.) A boss fight here as well.
It is nothing amazing, but I feel the areas I made are decent, though I'm sure you could add some polish to them. I mainly just felt the side quests were weak in Crimson Echoes compared to Chrono Trigger, so by adding some additional areas and bosses it made them feel a bit more fleshed out.
If you have been in contact with kando, please let him know that I posted this, and ask his opinion. However I feel comfortable offering these parts of our project, because they were all created by just me.
DJK, please contact us @ enhasaorders@gmail.com ASAP! Thank you! :D
DeleteGood job guys!!! only one thing, there's a bug in the overworld music in 1005, making some itchy noise and high pitch. Continue your work!

ReplyDeleteOkay I was wrong about one of the bugs I mentioned sorry about that.
ReplyDeleteSo now I am just wondering if the beta testing chapter selection is supposed to be there if you select New Game with save data present? And am I the only one who finds it funny in the custom intro that Magus's cape keeps slapping Glenn in the face?! XD

ReplyDeleteFound another bug... when you return from 12001 and Balthasar explain where the magic is coming from, when crono sprite change to a flame, the text box show only texture of grey and white with no text... so we cannot know how Zeal got his power : (
ReplyDeleteJust keep pressing button to skip it, that section is always bugged out if you use snes9x emulator.
Delete-Joe.
Download link is dead due to too much traffic =(
ReplyDeleteAwesome job. Will there be an official SNES box art from the team?
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteLove you work of polishing and adding to Crimson Echoes. Thank you for removing all those stupid pop culture / anime references! :)
Question... Why did you all choose to include Opassa and Arni domes in 2300AD? If I'm not mistaken, they don't exist in the Chrono Trigger or Flames of Eternity timelines. El Nido was nothing but an empty ocean until AFTER Chronopolis' counter-time experiment, an event that happens after the events of Flames of Eternity...
To clarify, Chronopolis was hurled from 2400AD into the ice age (~12000BC) as a result of the Counter-Time experiment that failed. Once in the past, they instigated the Dragon War by pulling Dinopolis (and their moon) over from the Reptite/Dragonian timeline. After the war, the people of Chronopolis realized that they were trapped and couldn't return to the future, so they literally designed and created the El Nido archipelago. They wiped their memory (and some used genetic manipulation to become demi-humans) and then inhabited the man-made islands they created. FATE (the A.I. program) then used Records of Fate to manipulate the descendants of Chronopolis and ensure that they didn't alter the timeline too much by leaving the island chain...
So anyway, this is why El Nido doesn't exist in Chrono Trigger, nor in Crimson Echoes. :)
There's another issue regarding Guardia. In this game, the kingdom is conceived in sin, and gets its just deserts when Porre burns the kingdom. That always bugged me. There is absolutely zero indication that Guardia was anything but a noble and righteous kingdom, destined to continue its monarchy into the future. The Chrono Compendium indicates that Guardia did survive the attack on it.
ReplyDeleteWell, Zeality and the ones who wrote this story (Flames of Eternity is just a completed version of a mostly-completed ROM hack called Crimson Echoes), wrote a very morally ambiguous story. They asked the questions that Chrono Trigger didn't ask -- is changing time morally acceptable?
DeleteThey explored this theme with the founding of Guardia with Cedric as well. They made the origins morally murky. After all, history is often written by the winners (not the losers), and this was the case in Crimson Echoes/Flames of Eternity.
That being said, there's nothing in canon to show this. So that's just one "dark" idea created by Zeality, Agent 86 and the Crimson Echoes guys -- and carried over by the Flames of Eternity team. So don't worry, it's not canon in the slightest.
Also, Guardia may very well have survived, the attack in 1005AD. Maybe in the Chrono Cross timeline, but it even has a higher chance in the post-Chrono Cross timeline. After the Home and Another worlds are combined when Serge uses the Chrono Cross, a third, unified timeline is created, which we know nothing about. So it stands that, for all we know, Guardia may have never been attacked in the new timeline!
If only Square Enix would give us another game... Alas!

ReplyDeleteAccidentally posted my response here instead of directly to Drew. Deleted it to fix this. :)
DeleteFound another and major bug.... when playing Marle alone in 1AD, her weapon can confuse enemy, that's great !!! In a battle, I've attack 2 reptite, one was confuse and the other not. no problem there... but they when off the hill where I took the fight, and the one without confusion made his sleep attack... and marle sleep for half an hour now.... The ennemies cannot attack her because they're down the hill.... The only way I've found was to reset the game....
ReplyDeleteOK sorry to bother you, the same thing happened again but I've found a workaround.... to ran away,,,, yeah run away when you are on a sleep spell... Ahhhh Video Game's logic!
DeleteFirst time playing and I'm really enjoying it, but I did find some bugs firstly I lost to the time traveling reptites at the end of the Chrono Glenn Magus section but the game continued as if I had won, second when I try to enter the Dorino Field later in the game it locks up on entry.
ReplyDeleteOther than those two thing my only gripe was the soloing with Marle, 20 minute battles alternating between cure and ice over and over isnt fun.
I agree, creature are too long to kill, way to much HP, and you're right, with Marle it take forever to kill monster.
DeleteI have a recommandation for something that could be simple or tough to add (sorry I don't know a lot about rom mod). Is it possible to add a way to changer Marles name... because like Frog, his true name is Glenn, but Marles, her real name is Nadia. I know that seem stupid, since we can change names of almost everybody including Magus and Robo, why not Marle? Just asking!
ReplyDeleteI've sent a few emails but I'm not sure if it is getting through or if you guys don't need the help. I have created some vector images of Akira Toriyama's drawing of the characters and I can create more authentic character portraits from this. I don't have one of Glenn, but I imagine it would look like a color and face swapped Zarbon - http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/File:Zarbon_1.jpg. Would this be something that you guys could use?
ReplyDeleteHi Eddi,
DeleteI don't work on Flames of Eternity, but I do work on another project that could maybe use your help... I'm sure it would be up your alley. :) Do you have any examples of your work you could show me?
Thanks...
Hey BoottheGentlemanCaller. Do you have an email address? I can send you some stuff but I'm better at copying or using different pieces to make a vector images rather than creating myself. I can do it, but it takes a lot of time.
DeleteI kinda wish that someone from FoE would respond to the request or at least say they aren't interested. To bad I can't attach images to the comments. Maybe I'll upload something sometime with a URL.
Hi People I am from Brazil and This game is Great but i have problem when you have Magnus Glean and Cronos Team in New Era I dont know where I need To Go Plese Help Me and Sorry My Bad English.
ReplyDeleteThere are some walk through videos on YouTube that should be able to help you
DeleteDarn, Both Agent 86's dialog and Glenn's dialog are STILL just annoying to read. Would much prefer that both of their dialog be switched back to how they were originally written.
ReplyDeleteI am just getting into this game now add it took a while to get the ROM. Great work guys, not sure if it is a bug but when doing the frog finding game with Kong, he still wins if I get four frogs.
ReplyDeleteAlso I created a CT prequel if anyone is interested. It's called chrono source. I'm not as skilled with hacking roms. Mine is done through rmxp. You can find it at http://chronosource.wix.com/home
