  5. Question about the music companion application. When I last played FoE, some four or five years ago, it was really good but a few tracks, like ones from Final Fantasy VII, were a little jarring.

Since then, an awesome composer named Blake Robinson has produced a symphonic album covering every track from the game, and more and more quality remixes of CT music have been made - including my absolute favorite ever edition of Wind Song by a trio called moonbowmusicmovie - look them up.

Basically, what I'm wondering is two-day:
#1) will any of the music in the companion application be updated? Who is in charge of it? Who should I send this feedback to?
#2) If I want to make *my own* tweaks to the enhanced soundtrack, just for myself using my own music, is there a method to do that?

Thanks for all your work! Excited to play again when RC8 is released!

    1. You can put any mp3 files you'd like in the Music Companion.

    2. Can somebody please tell me where to find an "enhanced soundtrack"? I mean I can install MusiCompanion myself for sure but where can I found a "desiged" soundtrack? Does one exist?

  8. Here is a patch to restore the instrument table back to original for any who may be interested. The reason being to not have the song 'pops' and glitchyness with accurate emulators and real hardware, which is a result of having the instruments exceed the total amount of bytes allowed for any one song:
    https://www.mediafire.com/file/1jarq6d5xbvrvji/CTFoE-Original_Instruments.ips

Use a patching utility such as Lunar IPS or SNEStuff to patch the ROM, which should be non-headered.

Do you think you could just upload the latest version of FoE, pre-patched with this?

    Cool!
I really LOVE this ROM hack. The awesomeness of the whole thing, it is just incredibly delightful, and, surely, lengthy enough to offfer fun at large amounts to any decent Chrono enthusiast!
Hope it's released soon, so I can play it all over again! :D
Ah, btw, the Doctor Who references are GREAT! Nothing like mixing the greatest sci-fi series of TV with the best RPG of videogames, haha!
Thank you for this game. I'll be hanging on forever, waiting for it!

  15. Hey guys just a head up playing the game on the SNES mini and on the Chapter Stop the Porre Lab! The Cut Scene with Belthasar will not play. You are moved to the hangar and have to pick a time period and if you pick 2305 the cut scene start but is never completed.

  16. Another bug problem - When talking to Balthasar after coming back from your night time Zeal trip, halfway through the explanation about humans' getting magic the text boxes completely bug out and are unreadable. It fixes itself once those cutscenes end. :(

  29. wow just wow one of the best romhacks out there, i had given up on chrono trigger ever since i played the DS version with hours upon hours of newly added pointless fetchquests and a boring blob colousium minigame that left me feeling so empty inside. while i was playing FOE i was having tons of fun exploring, laughing, jamming out to crisp sounding mp3's getting absorbed into the story with the void in my heart truly filled with this fun masterpiece square enix could only dream of achieving, felt like i was living the days of squaresoft when the company actually gave a shit about making good games, thank you Giro and everyone involved in keeping the dream alive i hope you can find the time to finish this project someday

  39. It has been nearly 4 years since the last actual release. No project information or updates or anything at all for that matter for 3 years after that. Just one teaser posted over a year ago with the hint of possible work being done. Not really sure what is going on with the authors of this project, but the fact that I and many others keep checking back here is a testament of how many people are still interested in seeing this project completed some day. Hopefully at some point there is some new news released, but it has been so long that I'm about ready to move on.

    1. Why do you ask stupid questions?
      It's done when it's done.
If there's no update, there's no update.
Once the next update hits, you will know that it is still being worked on.
In general, it's better to not give the benefit of the doubt and consider a project dead, rather than still being alive, unless proven otherwise.

I really wonder what's so hard for most people to grasp about this simple concept...

      Delete
    2. "If there's no update, there's no update.
      Once the next update hits..."
      This logic.
Nothing heard from any of the developers in over a year and niche project not backed by CE members. This is more than likely dead.

      Delete
    3. This shitpost.

Before you reply without getting the point, you might as well learn to read more carefully.
What I said was that, once the next update hits, you will know it is still being worked on.
If nothing happens, you will know that it's dead for sure.

Also, if you've even bothered reading this blog, you will notice that updates inbetween could take like 1 1/2 years or more talk about the current progress.
I'm not saying it's definitely happening; what I'm saying is that ''It's dead lol, 'cus over a year no updates.'' is objectively wrong, because that's around the time frame where updates got posted in the past as well.
That, and the last entry on this blog stated that progress is just crawling along.

I don't see what CE members have to do with this project tho, nor do I give a damn about your flawed logic.
Go pester someone else with your game theories.

      Delete
    4. Aight fam.

If you've really followed these updates then you'd realize that posts haven't always been around 1 1/2 years apart. This project started out strong, but has dwindled to the point of no active members bothering to chime in on any comments for over a year now. No flawed logic, just the reality of all this instead of believing in false hope.

      Delete
    5. I'm not hoping for anything here; what I did was look at how frequent updates were being posted on this blog, which is perfectly legit so far.
The authors not heeding your or anyone's word everytime you bitch about them not catering to your every demand doesn't mean it's dead.
I just found out about this blog not too long ago; someone who says how dead this project supposedly is, but insists on shitposting in the comment section is the one who's still clinging to false hope.
I for one just wait if something happens.
If not, I will simply move on to other things, and I would suggest you to do the same, instead of being all moody and taking out your frustration out on others.
Because then, I will reply the way I did with my first comment to you here.
Conversations like this never amount to anything worthwhile otherwise.

    8. And you are just an internet troll that is unable to debunk what I said in my previous comments.
It has taken years inbetween updates; people complaining about the hack not being finished and demanding updates are just retarded man-children that act high and mighty, yet don't do anything to help.
      They only complaining.

In what timeframe updates have been posted becomes evident the moment you decide to bother checkIng this very blog here.

That said, have a nice day.

  50. These guys are a joke... You'll all be checking back here until you're 80 years old. Might be best to move on, or attempt to better the current version yourself with the tools and documents, or even better create a team with a new "Project Leader" and get this game back on track. First thing I would do is remove the bunch of crossover references that basically spat on Crimson Echoes dialog. Then I'd set the instruments back to not overflow the instrument block data which breaks a bunch of songs, then I'd probably make Chrono not Talk, have someone fix Glenn's obvious limp when he's walking, and then go from there :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Instrument fix would be nice. Disagree about Crono tho: his 'Heroic Mime' thing was my one and only gripe about the original. Having him actually participate in the conversation for FoE was a breath of fresh air for me.

  51. i wish this wasnt true but it probably is... any chance that youd polish this "project"? ive seen your work on your ff6 mod.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ah I highly doubt it, my plate is still quite full with the ff6 mod, and after I put it down I really need to step away from romhacking, at least until tending to RL stuff. Attempting to continue work on FoE for me would require learning and re-learning the FoE RoM and Temporal Flux etc. - I'd need to have at least all the documentation the current team has most likely. I must admit I wrote the last message when I was a more or less drunk, I apologize if I came off harsh or disrespectful, I really do also wish this team would come back to working on this, I was feeling frustrated lol... But yeah the outlook is still looking pretty bleak.

    ReplyDelete
  53. im holding out hope that it gets finished. worst case ontario ill play the ff6 mod :)

  54. Hey everyone, totally new here just finished playing the PC release of Chrono Trigger (which I loved.) Never played anything but the original SNES release so I missed out on the animated cutscenes from the PS-1 version and the bonus dungeons of the DS version until now, all of which were great. Anyway in the process of trying to learn more about the game I came across CE and then FoE can't wait to download the rom hack but I do have a few questions: Is the current version more or less complete story wise? I don't mind bugs or random freezing/crashes in a fan project but I would hate to be unable to finish the game because the plot is simply not complete, so can you get through it to at least one final boss fight/ending of some sort?

    Thnaks!

PS: Chrono Cross was a big pile of...confusion, and I had no idea WTF was going on half the time. Hopefully this dispels some of that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. ZSNES doesn't have the sound/instrument issues because it is not accurate and somehow bypasses the total instrument data blocks allowed per song, while accurate emulators and real hardware do not. you can download my instrument patch here if you want to change the instruments back to normal so there is no sound issues:

    5. Greetings true believers...

I would be lying to you if I said nothing was wrong, so I'll get straight to the point. Flames of Eternity needs your help, I need your help. Communication has ceased with the previous developer, more than likely because of life happening. Life has happened to me as well, as a major transition occurred in my life, along with two moves and career changes. One thing that I have not given up on is the hope of seeing this project through to completion.

Excuses aside, here is the one main fact:
I still have copies of the developmental files and notes from Enhasa. Also copies of the tools used through development!
I am asking for Mugen Kagemaru to contact me at: ruby.dragoon@gmail.com ASAP!!! Even through Google Hangouts.

I will be checking this email address frequently.

      Please please keep hope alive!

If you think you can provide a meaningful contribution to this project, email me at the address posted above, and attach copies of your work. I have to weed out the unskilled hopefuls from the skilled hopefuls. This is nothing against the community at all, this is because of the simple fact that I do not have the time to spin up people on using the developmental tools, and this is a failure on my part. I am a father and a husband, as well as working a full time job.
